Venus turns Retrograde in Leo at 2.33 BST Sunday, 23^rd July 2023.

Venus, planet of art, beauty and value turns retrograde (appears to be going backwards) in the sign of creativity, self-expression and luxury from July 23 to September 4, 2023. 

This turns the usual expression of Venus in Leo – lover of luxury and grand gestures, display, generosity, creativity – into a quieter, more introverted forms. You might discard luxury and instead reflect carefully on how and what you spend money on, looking for things of more lasting value.

This can be a very creative time, a great opportunity to work on a project by yourself, which might then be released to the world when Venus turns direct.

Relationships may come under scrutiny. This is often a period during which they are intensified. They may either deepen or fall apart. Or perhaps you are hammering out a new way of being together, working out how you can both express yourselves and honour your own creativity whilst still being part of a couple.

Old flames (very Leo!) may suddenly reappear in your life and another chapter begins – or you finally have closure. 

The Venus retrograde cycle repeats every 8 years so think back to what you were doing 8 years ago (Facebook might help!) and see if there are parallels. Potentially another layer is now being added to a theme that began back then. This may have already begun during the last couple of weeks, the pre-retrograde phase is known as the ‘shadow’.

How Venus retrograde impacts you will depend on where it falls in your chart. Do you have planets between 12 deg and 28 deg Leo that will be soaking up a triple Venus transit? Think about the energy that planet represents and expect more of it to come into your life.

Most of all, use this period to honour yourself and to work at discovering what you truly love and value and how you can best express your most creative, authentic self in the world.
