Full Moon at 4 deg 58 Cancer at 00.33 UT on 27th December 2023

This last lunation of 2023 is a Full Moon of heightened emotions in Cancer, the Cardinal Water sign. It tugs us back into the past, into nostalgia and memories, whilst our solar energy in Capricorn pushes us forwards into the structures of our everyday reality.

The party’s over, the tribe – whatever that means for you – is disbanding, it could be friends, like-minded people or family, and we are left with a sense of something having been completed.

As the lunar cycle culminates, we must let something go in order to move on. Perhaps we allow the memories of this season to become part of the fabric of our past as we take another step into our future? We could be feeling stronger for being shown who we are and where we come from. There might also be a dose of melancholy for all that we leave behind and for the things that have changed as the years have passed.

Both the Full Moon and the Sun opposing her, make flowing aspects to Jupiter, ready to turn direct in realistic Taurus, and to Saturn in Pisces. There is something here about the constraints of time and the material world and to working within them, and the possibility – perhaps necessity? – of building new dreams as the world continues to turn.

Soon after the Full Moon perfects, Mercury (with Mars by its side) makes a challenging aspect to Neptune, planet of dreams and imagination, so communication may be unclear or there maybe confusion about the vision or the direction. The time to do the thinking is now and prepare for a reset in early January when the aspect repeats.

Venus in Scorpio, however, is still in creative aspect with Neptune, which suggests that the relationships forged during this time should endure. But where the love has become embittered, it is unlikely to rekindle.

Over all, this is a positive Full Moon which asks you to let go of relationships, ties and emotions that are no longer serving you and suggests you take all that is positive from your past and to move forward with this, to build your new dreams for the next phase.
