Mercury enters Capricorn at 02h49 UT on 14th January

Jupiter, planet of meaning and faith; Mercury, planet of communication, thought and connection, these planets are natural opposites. Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, Jupiter rules the opposing signs of Sagittarius and Pisces. Both turn direct as we enter 2024 creating an optimistic and forward-looking mood. 

Jupiter is in charge right now, and faith and optimism will carry us into the future. Mercury is operating in service of the big idea by sorting out the paperwork and paying attention to the details that will eventually make it happen. 

(Take note that relationships might need some nurturing on 1st January when Venus makes a challenging aspect to Saturn.)

With Jupiter direct in Taurus we are taking practical steps to grow and while there may be some initial confusion while ‘stuff’ get sorted out, everything should feel more achievable when Mars enters Capricorn on 4th. Now we can get some proper work done and begin to plan and put proper structures in place. 

There could still be moments of frustration, especially around 9th when Mercury makes an awkward aspect to Neptune. This is mirrors the one on 27th December. You may still be trying to make your vision fit the reality but chances are that compromises and creative thinking will be necessary to make things work.

The Capricorn New Moon on 11th January and Mercury’s entry into practical Capricorn on 14th gives everything a more down-to-earth feel. With so many of the planets now in Earth signs there is huge impetus to get things done and organise the material world with career and property in focus.

Only Venus remains in Sagittarius for most of January; her vision and optimism may well be a welcome contrast to the seriousness of the Capricorn energy. 

This looks like a busy couple of weeks while the New Year energies get established and we get to grips with 2024.
