With this shift we move away from the detached clarity of thought that is the gift of Aquarius into something much more imaginative and poetic.

Mercury in Pisces thinks and communicates through imagery and symbols. Words do not come easily and the meaning may be unclear – at least, to the uninitiated.

Mercury in the sign of Mutable Water understands through the realm of feeling and the unconscious. It picks up the invisible currents and responds to what is unseen.

Thought and language resemble music or dance; they flow, repeat and express themselves through a cloud of unknowing and a swirl of colour or sound. They get it, they absolutely do, but what? And how?

Mercury in Pisces struggles to tell the truth because everything is relative after all, and nothing is ever, actually certain. How could it be? This Mercury knows instinctively what you want to hear and prefers to say that.

Pisces Mercury fails to convey practical facts that might enable the smooth progression of daily life for their Earth sign partner because it simply didn’t realise they were important.

The challenge is to ground all this creativity in something more solid. Saturn, currently paddling laboriously through Pisces should help. Saturn aims to establish foundations in the sea that will give form to the visions and structure to the imagination.
