Full Moon at 1 deg 7’ Capricorn at 02.08 BST on 22nd June 2024

This is first of two Full Moons in ambitious, business-like and quietly shamanic Capricorn. The second falls on 21st July at the very end of the sign. Both are opposed by the Sun across the sky in Cancer. 

This is unusual and puts extra focus on the Cancer/Capricorn axis. In the natural zodiac this falls across the 4th/10th houses of the horoscope.

The 4th/10th houses form the parental axis and speaks of the contrast between the past (Cancer 4th) and the future (Capricorn 10th).

It is the opposition between our private (Cancer) and public (Capricorn) selves. 

Cancer is ruled by the Moon which, in this lunation, is pulling the Cancer planets (Sun, Mercury, Venus) out of their comfort zone of nostaliga, remembering and familiarity towards the harsher reality of the wider world. 

We are challenged to break out of the Cancerian cocoon and make our mark on a broader stage.

This might mean looking closely at our work/family balance. The will to nurture and be nurture maybe confronted by practical realities and the need to earn money and make an impact in our career.

It’s a struggle. Full Moons are watersheds and call on us to leave something behind as we move towards the next stage in our lives.

Cancer and Capricorn are Cardinal signs, so action is required and expected. It’s a time for new initiatives and positive leadership.

The Sun/Moon opposition draws in an added challenge from Neptune in Pisces, planet of dreams and imagination. Can our emotions and ideals be honoured and incorporated as we move forward? What will we be asked to sacrifice?

Clearly, this Full Moon is showing us that there are emotional and practical challenges to overcome as we continue our life journey.

However, by the second Full Moon on 21st July the challenge from Neptune has mellowed. So we can hope and anticipate, that with some serious work over the coming four weeks the questions will by then, have been answered.
