Full Moon on 21st July at 11h17 BST at 29 deg 6’ Capricorn

This second Capricorn Full Moon of Cancer season is about the past (Cancer) and the future (Capricorn). It’s intensity is heightened by falling the last, anaretic or ‘crisis’, degree of the sign, emphasizing the theme of concluding a cycle. 

Capricorn is about society and the material world, about rules and regulations and about duty. It presides over buildings, tradition and structures of all kinds. Capricorn is about the bones of the matter.

Though there is a spiritual side to the sign which must not be forgotten, it is spirituality within established frameworks.

It’s ruled by Saturn, currently retrograde in Pisces, tracking back over old ground to shore up the foundations of its dreams.

Across the sky in Cancer, the Sun is feeling much more emotional, imaginative and nostalgic, pulling back into the past and emphasising nurturing and tribal or family matters. 

But it’s currently ruled by the Capricorn Moon so there is a sense in which we have to submit to the structures and regulations imposed from without.

Pluto is close by the Full Moon at 0 degrees Aquarius adding intensity to the mix and the urge for profound change, perhaps through technology or a more enlightened society. 

There is a positive, flowing connection to Mars in Gemini, which suggests that making connections and discussing the issues could be beneficial and help to find a way forward.

The helpful aspect to Neptune in Pisces softens the Sun/Moon opposition and offers hope. 

As with all Full Moons, this is the culmination of a cycle. We may be called to let go of something – however much we want to cling to it  – in order to move forward.

Promisingly, on 11th October, Pluto stations at 29 degrees of Capricorn, the same degree as this Full Moon, before turning and moving back into Aquarius thus concluding its Capricorn cycle for the next 230 years.

Something connected with the themes of this Full Moon should start to move forwards with it allowing a new chapter of the story to begin.

We dance within the pattern of the universe and we must choose our moves with care.
