Mercury turns retrograde at 4 deg 6’ Virgo on 5th August 2024 at 05.56 BST

Our planet of thought and communication turns retrograde three to four times year. This time it’s in the Mutable, Earth sign of Virgo, a sign which it rules, along with Gemini. 

Those of us with these two signs prominent in their charts will, as always, feel this retrograde especially strongly.

Mercury retrograde is about remembering, rewriting, revisiting – all the ‘re’ words. 

Initially it tracks back through the early degrees of Virgo. This period is about catching up with the paperwork, reading or gardening – and perhaps paying attention to our mental health. 

More spiritually this may be a period when we are especially contemplative. We might be thinking a lot and perhaps meditating or generally working over ‘stuff’.

Virgo can be self-critical. Instead of beating ourselves up we could make an effort to direct this energy positively into revising what we have written, thought or decided. It might be a time when we change how we think about things.

Mercury retrograde may bring old friends back into our lives. 😊

Mercury arrives back in Leo on Thursday 15th August. At this moment we may need to take stock of who we actually are and how we communicate and express ourselves. 

There is an honesty and directness to Mercury in Leo. We may be searching for the courage to speak out and say what is important to us. 

We may be adjusting our sense of who we are and rethinking how we move forward authentically.

Remember, Mercury Retrograde is not a great time to sign contract, leave that until after 28th August when Mercury turns direct at 21 degrees Leo.
