Sun enters Virgo @15h55 BST on 22nd August 2024

The Sun is beginning to set on summer and the pace changes. Leo is a Fixed sign. It moves steadily with focus on the bigger picture. Virgo is busy, bustling, managerial, paying attention to all the details, adapting to new situations and making sure things get done.

And there are new situations to adapt to; back to school, back to work, end of holidays… Virgo is about service, health and routine – all the things that Leo often finds a bit dull but which are the substance of our every day; our morning coffee, the commute to work, making supper, the evening dog walk…

Virgo is modest, unassuming and competent and there to help, to organise and to manage.

Virgo is the season of harvest, and the abundance of nature. Virgo makes jam, collects blackberries, puts fruit and vegetables in the cold store and prepares food stocks for the winter to come.

This year as the Sun moves into Virgo, its ruler Mercury is in Leo. This is the second half of its retrograde cycle so we’re beginning to get our plans in order and starting to see how things are shaping up.

We’ll feel more in control when Mercury turns direct on 28th August, and better still when it returns to Virgo on 9th September.

Grounded in the element of Earth, Virgo people are skilful and discerning. They tend to work to hard to stave off the chaos that might ensue if life/work isn’t properly organised and sorted. This can be stressful and cause health issues.

Establishing a healthy life-work balance is a key Virgo theme and this it’s a great time to put new rituals in place to help you manage your workload. Delegate where you can, choose what to focus on and program time to eat healthily and take exercise.

Most of all, factor in time in nature, even in the rain. Nothing is better for the Sun Virgo than regular time out to calm that busy, active mercurial nature.
