Mars enters Cancer at 20h47 BST on 4th September 2024

Traditionally, Mars isn’t super happy in Cancer. The frothy waves tend to put a dampener on its fiery nature.

However, it’s useful to remember that Mars co-rules Scorpio in addition to Aries so it’s not entirely lost in the element of Water.

Cancer is a cautious sign and Mars here approaches it’s enemy crabwise. It is naturally self-protective and indirect as it advances towards its goal.

Mars in Cancer gets what it wants indirectly through feeling out the enemy weak points. Anger is difficult as its means opening up. More attractive is the sustained sulk or the sudden, unexpected jab which it hopes will eventually lead to capitulation. 

The moment Mars enters Cancer it is under the rulership of the Moon which means it’s moody and changeable. One moment this Mars can be positive and outgoing, in the next it’s depressed and has withdrawn into its shell.

As Mars enters Cancer tonight, the Moon is in Libra. This influence is more likely to encourage Mars to promote peace deals and negotiate for compromise than to fight.

However, this doesn’t mean that Mars here will be a pushover. Both Libra and Cancer are Cardinal signs and able to stand their ground. 

Planets in Cancer have a deep understanding of tradition, of the past and the power of the ancestors. 

This is a time to stay close to those you love best and be prepared to fight on their behalf.

It’s a time to be cautious in your financial affairs and to play your cards close to your chest.
