Sun enters Scorpio at 23h15 BST on 22nd October 2024

As the Sun moves through the last, powerful degree of relational Libra to intense, powerful Scorpio, it encounters Pluto, Lord of the Underworld.

This challenging aspect between these two planets suggests a confrontation between our individual power and direction and the demands of society, work or even something that feels like fate. We may be trying to maintain our equilibrium in the face of something transformational.

Our relationships could be challenging at this time.

Then, at around 23h on 22nd October, in the UK, the Sun moves into Scorpio. Now we are entrenched in our position. Scorpio is a Fixed Water sign, emotional, secretive loyal, thorough, profound and ultimately unmovable.

Scorpio is no stranger to both change and transformation. This sign takes no prisoners and instinctively understands the process of life and death. It can be a jealous, vengeful sign, but it’s also powerful, potent and often magnificent, capable of rising Phoenix-like from the ashes of its past.

Life, death, sex, renewal; these are the Scorpio themes and they resonate strongly with autumn in the northern hemisphere. Nights are closing in, leaves are falling, bonfires are lit to bring light to the encroaching darkness. Yet beneath the earth, new life is forming, almost secretly, ready to emerge in the spring.

It’s no accident that both All Hallows’ Eve (31st October) and All Souls Day (1st November) fall in Scorpio season.

Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Pluto, two planets currently in opposition, so if you have the Sun, Moon or angles in this sign may you feel conflicted, pulled in half on an internal level as if you’re being asked to walk in two worlds.

Find what keeps you steady and hang on tightly. The tension will ease after 4th November when Mars escapes into Sagittarius.
