New Moon in Scorpio

New Moon at 9 degrees 35’ Scorpio at 12h47 GMT on 1st November 2024

This intense, Scorpio New Moon takes place on All Souls’ Day – Samhain in the Celtic tradition. A day when bonfires were traditionally lit to stave off the encroaching darkness and ancient burial mounds were opened giving access to other worlds.

Like Bealtaine on 1st May, this is a liminal, or threshold festival, a pause between one way of being and another when the boundaries are blurred and contact with the spirits becomes more possible.

A Scorpio New Moon is about deep emotion, death and rebirth. It suggests the beginning of a new cycle which is emotional, transformational and profound.

It makes a flowing trine to Saturn hovering at 12 degrees Pisces. This positive aspect with Saturn holds us fast to the material world as we explore other realms.

There is some magical astrology around this New Moon, so if you can, take a moment just to pause and reflect, remembering that this time is exceptional and will not repeat.

The Moon is ruled by the Mars/Pluto opposition across Cancer and Capricorn which itself is tied into Neptune, Uranus and Mercury creating an interactive web.

The links between our mode of thought (Mercury) and our strength of Will (Mars) to the outer planetary heavyweights symbolises our personal engagement with society and reminds us how we are all deeply connected to one another and to our planet.

There are no islands in the universe and the responsibility to evolve and grow in positive ways belongs to us all.

Venus and Jupiter, symbolising relationships, values and growth, are both out of their comfort zones in Sagittarius and Gemini, but they are brought together by sensitive Chiron reminding us of our collective wound and our common humanity.

The lack of Earth in the New Moon chart – with the exception of Pluto who, as the Capricorn Goat/Fish, is not as earthly as he first appears – marks this time as spiritual and reflective rather than practical. A time for experiencing, meditating or being creative, rather than doing ‘stuff’ in the physical world.

This Scorpio New Moon offers us the opportunity to dig deep and draw on the strength of this transformative and powerful sign.
