New Moon in Aquarius, 12h36 UT, 29^th January 2025

There’s an airy, friendly, thinking vibe to this New Moon with its flowing trine to Jupiter in conversational Gemini.

Jupiter is almost at the point of stationing direct and so is barely moving, suggesting that having spent time researching the options we are pretty much ready to start putting put things into practice and begin a new cycle of growth.

If you have planets or angles around 9 degrees or the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) this New Moon will be especially important, presenting new challenges and opportunities to make your ideals and your concept of how the planet and society should be, actually happen. With this New Moon themes of freedom, of technology and of finding ways to connect with friends and the wider community are in focus. How technology and new ideals may impact our values, our bodies and our planet is also a thing as co-ruler Uranus turns direct the following day (30^th January).

This is a Moon cycle for initiating new plans and for offering and receiving friendly support – or maybe even support from some kind of science or technology. 

Uranus moving forward at 23 degrees Taurus just as the crescent Moon appears might bring new and unexpected ideas into the mix. Or perhaps some good news if this touches planets or angles in your chart.

The combination is giving the go-ahead for projects that involve friends, innovation or for things that are concerned with the planet and our resources.

So, it’s a New Moon for moving life on generally, especially as the first job of both Sun and Moon is to perfect the flowing trine to Jupiter.

However, there may be some background anxiety from the square between Chiron and Mars. This suggests an underlying worry that we may still not get what we want and more hurt may somehow be involved. 

By the Full Moon on 12^th Feb things should hopefully be clearer and we’ll understand better what the challenges really are.

Aquarius is detached as ever, so it’s important to consider the compassion and dreams of co-ruler Saturn, in Pisces with Venus, Neptune and the North Node. This brings an emotional and spiritual element into the symbolism of this New Moon and reminds us tells us that whatever the technology and zany new ideas, real people with real dreams are also involved.

In the table of Moon families, what begins here comes to fruition on 29^th July 2026 with the Full Moon at 6 degrees Leo. At this time the Sun is conjunct positive Jupiter. This all feels relatively optimistic especially as the Full Moon also ties in to next year’s unique cradle of outer planets and the possibilities that this may bring.
