Unsettled? Total Lunar Eclipse & Mercury Retrograde

Total Lunar Eclipse in at 23 deg 56’ Virgo at 06h55 UT, 14th March 2025

This is a lunar eclipse in the practical sign of Virgo with the Moon opposing the Sun in emotional Pisces.

Full Moons – and especially eclipsed ones – often symbolise major beginnings and major endings in the area of life they fall into. Or, they may represent the culmination of something important.

There is usually the need to let go in some area – a belief, a cherished relationship, or an actual thing – in order to move on, especially if the degree of the Full Moon touches planets or angles in your own chart.

Virgo is about the body, about health, diet, wellness and ritual. It’s a sensitive, practical sign, which likes to competently manage its world and can become anxious when it’s unable to.

Across the way, the Sun in Pisces is about imagination, dreams and spirituality. This is the element of chaos to the organisation of Virgo. It’s emotional and feeling.

Virgo is uncomfortable and anxious in the chaotic, feeling world of Pisces. Virgo very much wants order, to plan and, above all, to get things right.

Pisces has no sense of right and wrong, this sign only knows how it feels. It goes with the flow and is prepared to let chaos reign and ignore its own needs as long as it feels at one with the universe.

Both signs are changeable and highly sensitive.

So, you may be feeling all over the place and more than a little emotional as you try to shift and adapt to a new situation in the area of life represented by this Virgo Full Moon.

The challenge here is to recognise what really needs attention, and what you can let go of so you don’t get completely exhausted.

With Venus retrograde it may be that you need to sort out finances or reset aspects of your relationships.

Uranus in the mix, suggests positive, yet surprising developments in areas of money, land, possessions, the environment, and/or natural resources. This could also be about the impact of science on these areas of life, or on the physical body.

Saturn is still close to the Sun representing the manifestation of something at this Moon and the underlying fear that it might not work out.

But keep the faith and be prepared to adapt as necessary to make it happen, whatever it is for you.

Some protection is offered by Mars in family-oriented Cancer suggesting you proceed steadily but with caution.

Mercury is ruling this eclipse and he’s about to turn retrograde making everything more unpredictable than ever. So, don’t hesitate to rest and reflect, take time out, if that’s what’s needed.

Hold off signing any contracts, broadcasting the news in your life, or launching your project until 8th April earliest, when Mercury turns direct again and things begin to get clearer.

Eclipses come in pairs and the second is on 29th March, just before Neptune enters Aries for the first major planetary shift of the year.

The period between eclipses tends to be unstable and surprising with new things coming into our lives and others leaving.

Try to role with it all. Take deep breaths, stay grounded, and again, wait until mid-April before making those decisions.
