New Moon at 7 deg 46’ Taurus on 27th April at 20h31 UT

The annual Taurus New Moon falls when -in the northern hemisphere – our Earth is arguably at its most sublime. The early blossom has now finished and the fruit is beginning to set where there were once buds. Hedgerows are graced with hawthorn, known for centuries as May blossom, and shady woodlands are filled with bluebell lakes.
Taurus season is truly a time for appreciating the natural beauty of our planet. It has not been an easy beginning to the year. Eclipse season in March was raw and difficult for many people. Others have felt blocked and frustrated on a personal level and horrified by the global situation. The beauty of late spring offers balm for the soul.
Despite the difficulties there have, in some places, for some people, been breakthroughs and new beginnings as major planets change zodiac signs. There has been a sense of moving on or beginning a new phase – even if it wasn’t perhaps entirely the phase we were hoping for.
This strong New Moon (she is exalted in Taurus), coming just hours after the final Mars/Pluto opposition across the Leo/Aquarius axis of ‘identity’, is perhaps an opportunity to reboot that stoical Taurus calm and patience and stay present in the face of difficulties and/or change.
The Mars/Pluto opposition was about individual self-expression and creativity in the face of societal expectations, complications and pressure. Ultimately, it was about finding ways to release the person that we now want to be.
We may have been challenged by physical or social blocks as we tried to express or become this new version of ourselves.
Now we have emerged, bruised from our encounters, but ready to begin a new cycle. We are wiser, we know the challenges, but there is always hope, and the Taurean Bull plays the long game.
This New Moon is ruled by Venus, brilliant and strong in the last degrees of Pisces. She too, has come through a reality check symbolised by her encounter with Saturn, but is still holding tight to her dreams.
She will soon move into Aries and, like the Tarot Fool, set out on a new journey through the Zodiac, through life.
Set your intentions on this New Moon for the tangible things that you hope to make happen in the physical world, and make your wish when you see the crescent in the western sky.
According to the theory of Moon Families, this New Moon arrives at fullness on 26th October 2026 with the Full Moon at 2 degrees Taurus. Perhaps your wish will come true around that date.
