New Moon at 4 degrees 7’ Cancer at 11h31 UTC + 1 on 25th June 2025
In its final hours before renewal and regeneration, the Cancer Moon passes through Jupiter. These two planetary bodies are in places of strength – the Moon, at home in its own sign, and Jupiter, planet of growth and expansion, exalted in the Moon’s abode and planning to stay there for some time.
Moon is dark now, so this is a time for us to reflect on the cycle that has passed and what we want to take from it into the future .
As it travels forwards to meet the Sun, Moon carries with it, Jupiter’s faith, confidence and the possibility of emotional growth and greater understanding.
The Sun has also just passed by Jupiter, thus beginning its own annual cycle in this sign of feeling, imagination, and belonging. There is the suggestion that where we feel we belong, feeds strongly into how we express ourselves and who we truly are, deep down.
Cancer connects us to our roots, our instincts and our desire to nurture and to imagine. This is the sign of the past and of soul; a profoundly creative sign that seeks to birth, to nurture and to dream.
So, this sensitive New Moon brings a new cycle of possibility. Cancer, for all its receptivity, its fluctuations and moodiness, all its ability to reflect the light of others and operate ‘under the radar’, is nevertheless, a Cardinal sign. A sign of leadership with the ability to initiate and take the helm.
This New Moon is a rare opportunity to engage in a new creative projects under the auspices of benefic Jupiter. Projects that are meaningful on a profound level. Projects that spring from the roots of who we truly are.
The New Moon makes a positive connection with Mars in Virgo which will bring energy and attention to detail to our plans and schemes and offer us the power to adapt to new situations as they arise.
Mars here also brings welcome practicality and skill. Virgo can also be to do with health and the rituals of our daily lives, so this is a great time to put in place new healthy habits routines for self-care. The Moon in Cancer reminds us that self-nurture is important too.
Venus is also connected to this lunation and is strong in her own sign ofTaurus, giving stability and the possibility of finishing or continuing what we start.
The challenges from Saturn and Neptune in Aries are still present but they are receding. However, the practical limitations and boundaries imposed by Saturn will need to be kept in mind as we move forward.
As with all new cycles something will need to be released in order to start afresh. So, we must think carefully, and do this consciously. Cancer can tend to cling to the past and Taurus can be overly attached. We may need to ask ourselves – is this belief, idea, object… truly serving us? And answer honestly.
The first planet the New Moon contacts as it leaves the Sun is Mercury, which has moved into Leo just hours earlier on the evening of Thursday 26th June. Mercury in Leo seeks to express itself more openly, honestly and directly than it did in Cancer. The downside is that in Leo, our thinking might become ‘all about me’.
There is a lack of objectivity with this New Moon and with it the danger that we might become overly defensive and unable to budge from our cocoon. But there’s enormous creative potential here, if we are brave enough. The New Moon is just the beginning of the cycle. The rest is up to us.
Set your intentions on 25th and make a wish when you see the crescent in the sky.
