New Moon at 28 degrees 11’ Scorpio, 06h47 UTC, 20th November 2025, with Mercury retrograde.
Every year, as the skies darken towards the Winter Solstice. we have the Scorpio New Moon. A time for clearing out and quietly beginning the process of regeneration to make way for new beginnings and new narratives.
Every New Moon begins a new lunar cycle. Sun and Moon come together in a symbolic rebirth – and this is never truer than for the profoundly sensitive and emotional New Moon in Scorpio.
This quietly transformative lunation could flag up issues around finances and resources – personal and joint. It might be to do with inheritance (financial, psychic or emotional), our bodies, or what makes us feel secure. There is potential for transformation and it may not always be our choice.
This New Moon in the final degrees of the sign, picks up the theme of this year – endings – to make ready for beginnings in 2026. It may be time to accept that some things have changed and realign ourselves with the new reality.
It is in acceptance that we find peace.
This is the moment to accept the situation as it is now. We must give ourselves permission to let go of the past.
This may not be easy; Uranus across the sky in Taurus may be throwing us curve balls. And Mercury is still retrograde, trekking back over everything and everyone, ticking all the boxes and preparing for the next phase.
This is a New Moon for letting old cycles be old cycles (as it were) and for moving thoughtfully towards the future. Sun and Moon are preparing to precess into Sagittarius, Where they leave behind some of the emotion and intensity of Scorpio and look to the future.
Mars, co-ruler of the New Moon, is ahead of the curve, already in Sagittarius and doing his best to be optimistic and forward thinking.
A little astrology for this New Moon sequence … it takes just 38 minutes of time for the Moon to pass the Sun and encounter retrograde Mercury. And then, before morning coffee, Mercury penetrates to the heart of the Sun, the cazimi coinciding exactly with the Moon’s opposition to retrograde Uranus. Meanwhile Neptune is at 29 degrees Pisces – the same degree, same minute, creating a wedge. This could offer a powerful sense of release, a breakthrough.
Although many planets are still retrograde, the Moon (our emotions, feelings and instincts) is moving on – we are letting go of something (or accepting something) here. We are wiser than we were. We understand better. We can make new plans.
On 22nd November, the Sun will move into fiery, hopeful, Sagittarius. The following week both Saturn and Mercury turn direct bringing new initiatives and new insights. Early next year Saturn and Neptune come together in Aries, a new cycle in the first Zodiac sign.
This New Moon is about the ending of endings – and looking forward to new beginnings. But first, we have to let go and make space in our heads, in our lives and in our hearts, for new mindsets, new situations and new ideas.
This year it is especially important if you have personal planets or angles around 28 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius).
