Full Moon at 13°3’ Leo at 22h09 UTC
This is a brave and courageous Full Moon which asks us to be our authentic selves within the wider group. Leo, a Fire sign, is warm, inspiring and seeks to express itself. It’s ruled by the Sun, which connects with the heart.
If the Full Moon is in Leo, the Sun is across the sky in Aquarius. The Leo/Aquarius axis is about the individual (Leo) expressing their true self within the group (Aquarius). This is the ‘Axis of identity’.
Equally, this Full Moon describes the tension between our innermost, creative potential (our inner child), and our responsibilities and duties as adults within society. How do we express who we truly are, and still fit into the wider whole?
Leo is an optimistic sign which has faith in the best possible outcome. But it has a child-like quality and needs recognition and self-belief to be at its best.
Aquarius, across the sky, is visionary and team-focussed. It is about society and the groups that we, as individuals operate within. It is kind, yet impartial and detached. It is interested in the future, in knowledge, in science, in the environment – and in creating the best possible version of our world. Aquarius is profoundly idealistic. It connects to the mind, and, through co-ruler Uranus, to the intangible spirit that pulls us towards the future.
This Leo Full Moon calls upon us to identify ourselves, to express ourselves and to stand, alone, on the stage of life. And we must do this within society. We are asked to bring what we have, to serve the wider group, and hope that our contributions will be recognised and valued.
This opposition sits across Fixed signs so flexibility isn’t easily built in, but balance is possible. The key is self-confidence.
If you have personal planets or angles around 12 – 14 degrees of the Fixed signs, (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) this Full Moon may be especially relevant you.
And by the way… the 1st February is also the festival of Imbolc in the Celtic tradition, St Bridgid’s Day. It marks the half-way point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox and is a festival of returning light and the beginning of Spring. It’s also known as Candlemas and is a hopeful time.
Imbolc is a festival of the hearth and home, a celebration of the lengthening days and the early signs of spring. The lighting of candles and fires represents the return of warmth and the increasing power of the Sun over the coming months – which is a lovely time for a a bright, fiery Leo Full Moon.
