Full Moon at 12deg 53’ Virgo, at 12h46 UTC, on 3rd March 2026, Total Lunar Eclipse
This is a Full Moon in practical, discerning Virgo with the Sun across the sky in Pisces, sign of feeling and compassion. The Virgo/Pisces axis contrasts order and chaos. It is also about service. Virgo is helpful in a practical, solution-oriented way. Pisces wants to save and to sacrifice. It empathises.
Virgo seeks order. It is a skilful, discerning sign which likes everything to be organised.
Pisces, on the other hand, has no boundaries. Just like the sea, it moves and flows responding on the basis of how it feels. Both signs are adaptable, able to adjust to new situations.
At this Full Moon, all the personal planets are with the Sun in Pisces, co-ruled by Jupiter in Cancer. Cancer is emotional, imaginative and self-protective, it seeks to look after its own. Jupiter expands what it touches. Here it touches the Pisces themes of dreams, compassion, love and sacrifice. Pisces is also ruled by Neptune which, in the warrior-sign of Aries, idealises individual goals and heroism.
The Full Moon is eclipsed; it’s light hidden by the Earth. Eclipses suggest secrets, new information coming to light, things which are not being fully disclosed. This idea is repeated by Mercury retrograde, ruling the Virgo Moon.
The Moon is about what makes us feel safe and contained. We get nervous when the light of the Moon is eclipsed. We are naturally wary of the darkness.
To move forward at this time we may need to search deeply for resources within ourselves, to identify our own safe spaces within the chaos. Our goal might be to focus on finding practical solutions to immediate problems. In essence, we need to work out what we can control and apply ourselves to these issues. In this way we can feel we are making a difference, however small.
Full Moons are the culmination of a cycle and that might mean letting something go. Once again we must ask what we need to leave behind in order to move on in our lives.
During eclipses and Mercury retrogrades we may often find we need to turn inwards, to search for the light and stillness within ourselves. And then, perhaps, we may become a beacon for others.
Self-care is especially important right now as the world appears to fall apart. If we can somehow connect to the ‘source’, through nature, meditation or a spiritual practice, we may be able to find peace and renew our energy.
In eclipse season, the world speeds up on both personal and global levels, staying grounded and actively seeking out, fresh air, trees and water will help us to stay balanced and keep our mental health on track.
Literally, bare feet on the ground or hands in the dirt can act as a lightening conductor, deflecting the growing sense of panic away from ourselves and helping us to cope.
Jupiter in Cancer, in harmony with this eclipse, suggests finding meaning and faith through those we are close to. Can we reach out and connect with others, offering practical help or simply friendship wherever it might be needed?
On 5th March the Sun trines Jupiter suggesting a measure of optimism may return.
This eclipse will be felt most strongly by those with planets or angles around 11-15 degrees of the Mutable signs – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces.
