Mercury entered Sagittarius at 06h25 UT on Friday, 10th November 2023.

The planet of understanding and communication shifts from Scorpio where it was intense and focussed, to espouse a wider vision of life, the universe and everything. 

Sagittarius is a Mutable Fire sign; restless, changeable, confident and intuitive. Mercury is uneasy here, traditionally in its fall. The Winged Messenger seeks to make connections and join dots, while Sag is the sign of meaning, faith and broad brushstrokes on expansive canvases. Sag has its eyes on the next horizon, the new theory. Mercury really prefers to stay local and report on what it knows.

There will be no more secrets with Mercury in Sagittarius. In Scorpio our communication planet may have played its cards close to its chest but in Sag you’ll hear what it thinks – whether you asked or not. Mercury now has opinions, is confident of their truth and will expand on them at length.

However, its first aspect as it shifts into Sagittarius is a challenging square to Saturn in Pisces. This may well temporarily block communication and leave you struggling for inspiration. Once this has passed – and it does so quickly – the road becomes clearer – although whether you will actually manage to nail anything down or pin this planet to a specific dates and times, remains doubtful. You may find you get lots of great ideas but not a huge number of actual facts or real substance.

In the lead up to the tense New Moon on Monday, communication may turn out to be the least of your worries. Expect curve balls and keep your catcher’s mitts close by.
