New Moon 27deg 28’ Aries, 12h52 BST, 17th April 2026
The first New Moon of the new astrological year falls towards the end of fiery, intuitive Aries and harnesses the bursting creative impetus that marks this Zodiac sign. Luna has been revitalised by the stellium of planets that are currently in Aries, including Mars, which rules this powerful lunation. It demands leadership and initiative.
This tells us that the energy we need is available to us, but it requires courage. Chiron, sitting with the Sun and the Moon, is asking if we have that courage. We are human, after all. We may doubt ourselves. Perhaps, like mythical Chiron, we have been wounded in the past. Now we need to pick ourselves up and begin again… believe again.
There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask, “What if I fall?”
Oh, but my darling,
What if you fly?

On leaving the Sun, the Moon enters stable Taurus and makes a challenging aspect to Pluto suggesting the transformation required of us is far from easy. Issues of freedom and Will may be implicated. Who’s really in charge here? Are power struggles, land money or our physical bodies involved? This may need to be clarified before we move on.
Jupiter in family-oriented Cancer is completely alone in this New Moon chart. Jupiter is where we find meaning and faith, where we grow and expand. Cancer is nurturing, imaginative and self-protective. Here it’s ruled by this bold New Moon. We may be trying to protect ourselves whilst being quietly brave.
Venus in Taurus is patient and secure in her material reality, holding her ground in a challenging world. But she is approaching Uranus, and will arrive on 23rd April. As she touches Uranus, the transformer, something unexpected may happen. We may feel suddenly destabilised, as if we are becoming different versions of ourselves.
This could be for the best but it requires a new mindset, a new way of approaching things. We may have to open our spirit to new ideas and new versions of security.
The story has already begun. What has been initiated during this Aries season and defined at this New Moon has the potential to be consolidated when the Sun begins its journey through Taurus on 20th April.
Set your intentions and make you wish when you see the silver crescent in the sky… good luck.
