New Moon in Virgo; Where Are We Now?

New Moon at 18°45’ Virgo, 04h27 BST 11th September 2026 10th September; Venus enters Scorpio 09h07 BST, Mercury enters Libra 17h21 BST, Uranus turns retrograde 19h27 BST

This month, the New Moon arrives as the tempo changes.

Hours before Moon and Sun conjoin, relationship planet Venus, and communication planet Mercury, change signs.

Mercury leaves skilful, analytical Virgo where he was strong and focussed on practical solutions, and moves into Libra where he is inclined to overthink, spend too long weighing up pros and cons and please no one by trying to please everyone.

Venus leaves Libra where she was strong and happy, seeking peace, beauty and harmony, confident of her place in the world and of her personal value – and moves into Scorpio.

In Scorpio she enters the underworld a place of challenge and transformation where she is less inclined to please and cares little for the opinions of others.

With this shift we may find relationships deepen and become more profound – or are torn apart.

Issues of change and transformation, of inheritance, of finances, clinging on and being forced to let go, of power and of powerlessness are all present with Scorpio Venus. She is deeply emotional, passionate – and uncompromising.

She confronts Chiron and is forced to recognise her humanity and her vulnerability. We may feel that our security, both physical and material, are now uncertain.

What do we have? What don’t we have? What do we want to do with it and how can we make it work for us?

Alongside all this, Uranus turns retrograde at 5 deg 41’ Gemini, leaving an exclamation mark on this degree of the Zodiac.

Clearly, having got to a certain point our progress – both internal, and in the outer world – needs to be reviewed. This a stocktake in terms of our freedom of thought and of communication. Is it time for a radical new direction?

The review process continues until 8th February 2027 when Uranus reaches 1 deg 40’ Gemini.

So, planets and angles between 2 and 5 degrees Gemini get three passes of this revolutionary, unpredictable planet. Check out your chart and see where this lands for you.

The New Moon in Virgo arrives in the wake of these changes to confirm the sense of heading in new directions and searching for practical solutions and realistic ways forward.

Virgo is helpful, adaptable and organised- all qualities which are supremely useful as we cut our path through the undergrowth of everyday life.

The helpful contact with Mars in family-oriented Cancer enables us to be cautious, focussed and to look out for our own interests and those of those we are close to.

Mercury newly in Libra and in contact with the outer planets enables us to tune in to the wider whole, although the presence of idealistic Neptune may create some initial uncertainty and confusion.

There is a sense of striving for equilibrium with this cycle and of focussing on survival. Of creating a pause in the rush towards the future to explore the realities of the present.

Broadly, at this time, what has been busy, yet possible, in terms of our relationships, communication, and thought processes, and our resources, now seems more complicated and less clear.

This New Moon is a time to rethink, rebalance and research our options, and then to move forward slowly, with flexibility, kindness and modest, practical goals.

In the Moon Families theory, this New Moon in linked to the Full Moon on 11th March 2028. This may be when the seeds that you plant now arrive at fruition.
