Emergence; Scorpio New Moon

New Moon at 16°53’ Scorpio at 7h02 UT

A New Moon in the middle of the sign of Scorpio has the suggestion of emergence – a butterfly slowly breaking out of a chrysalis, a bud unfurling into a flower. Scientifically this is termed eclosion – emerging from the protective envelope into the world. It is a critical time for an organism. The butterfly’s wings are still wet and crumpled; it needs to gain strength quickly to avoid becoming dinner for something larger.

The period of transformation has been taking place through the retrogrades of Mercury and Venus and the Sun’s path through the first half of Scorpio; deep dives, self-questioning, perhaps frustration. Now it is time to start testing the new wings, but cautiously at first.

We may need to examine and acknowledge our feelings, especially the painful and difficult ones – honour them even. And then include them as part of our new selves so we can move on in greater wholeness and balance.

Venus is once again visible in the dawn sky. Her star-point has moved into Libra where she is powerful and clear, strengthening relationship, compromise and peace.

We take her powerful sense of self-worth with us into this new cycle.

The Scorpio Sun and Moon make a challenging aspect to Mars in Leo. Both signs are steadfast and loyal but resistant to change.

Mars in Leo, seeks recognition and attention. We clearly have leadership qualities and are striving to express ourselves. We are heading into expansive Jupiter and hope to make our mark, to have the chance to do something truly creative, that will show the world who we are, who we can be.

However, we have undergone a transition, and this new version of ourselves is still relatively fragile. We need to proceed with cautious confidence.

The Sun and Mars are in each other’s signs and have the potential to work together. We have the tools we need to continue steadily, avoiding arrogance (which can happen with Leo) and without making assumptions.

Mercury and Venus turn direct on 14th November. Things will probably seem clearer after this date.
